Teaching & Learning Committee

The Teaching & Learning Committee focusses on the delivery of the school's core purpose. In consultation with the Head Teacher, the Committee sets challenging annual targets for pupil progress and exam attainment, and then monitors progress against them. Where necessary we query areas where there appears to be room for improvement, and ensure that the Head Teacher has appropriate action in hand. The Committee ensures that the school has effective practices in place for staff development and appraisal, SEN and a range of other issues relevant to the performance of the school. Meetings usually begins with a presentation from a Head of Department on their Department's current successes and challenges, and future plans. A typical meeting might go on to cover exam results, with a detailed consideration of data and discussion of actions planned in consequence; the likely impact of new government policy on the future curriculum; and an update on SEN issues.
