The Resources Committee’s brief is wide and it has an overview of finance, premises and human resources (otherwise known as personnel). The Resources Committee approves the budget, for full endorsement by the Board of Governors. The Head Teacher, assisted by the Business Director, Facilities Manager and other non-teaching staff, is responsible for the day to day running of the school and the Resources Committee supports him in this task. At a typical meeting governors will take an updated report from both the Finance Officer and the Facilities Manager. They might then discuss and take decisions as varied as optimising income form school lettings, setting up of a new health and safety sub-committee, looking at ways to reduce energy costs, consider ongoing contractual issues arising from the construction of the school building and review the Risk Register.
